Designworx Interior Consultant’s design approach integrates indoor and outdoor spaces for feel-good environments.
Be it in green spaces or near waterways and bodies of water, spending time outdoors often uplifts the mood. A growing body of research has shown that spending time in nature can boost mental health, by decreasing anxiety and depression and even improving cognition. “The COVID-19 pandemic has led to more people seeing the appeal of landed properties and penthouses, which offer more spacious outdoor areas within their premises,” says Terri Tan, design director of Designworx Interior Consultant

Conceptualising landed properties and penthouses requires a sensitive approach to designing the interiors and outdoor spaces. When designing such homes, the award-winning design firm takes a holistic approach that leverages the benefits of natural elements like plants, water and materials inspired by nature, weaving them into contemporary and timeless designs. The design firm’s residential portfolio demonstrates a finesse that has led to a loyal client base and many design accolades.

For instance, while the resort-style home is the ultimate getaway-at-home experience for many, design expertise is needed to elevate it. In this award-winning project, a cosy patio serves as a quiet meditative spot close to nature, while an outdoor dining space is perfect for getting together on cool evenings. Designworx imbues neutral tones and wood finishes throughout the Good Class Bungalow (GCB) to convey an intimate and luxurious ambience that also melds with the lush greenery surrounding it. The gym room, too, is warm and comfortable with wood finishes, with exercise machines orientated towards the tree canopy to boost mental wellness. Designworx also provided additional privacy with trees on the balcony, placed individually in oversized pots for easy maintenance and a sculptural feel.

In designing the interiors of another GCB, Designworx studied the stunning landscaping and grounds. Inspired by the tranquil nature that envelops the cerulean pool, the design firm furnished the home with vibrant touches and transformed a staircase landing into an indoor-outdoor lounge. Plants add visual texture to the interior spaces and blend the interior with the exterior. The outdoor spaces are furnished just like interior spaces with various daybeds and loungers to blur the lines further.
(Penthouse - Balcony)
With penthouses, overhauling the rooftop terrace transforms it into a garden in the sky. A rare three-storey penthouse not only comes with a private pool but also a spacious rooftop terrace. It may look out to a cityscape, but with the incorporation of low shrubs to flank the shaded seating area, the space enjoys a slice of nature here along with the panoramic view. While this rooftop terrace exudes a playful feel with large rabbit sculptures, another rooftop terrace is a peaceful, minimalist retreat thanks to sculptural bonsai trees and black-and-white dining chairs.
